The Gold Proof 2003 Four-Coin One-Pound Pattern Collection. This set contains four gold £1 coins, featuring bridges of the UK, which at the time, were all forerunners to a new series of designs for the £1 coin. The four featured bridges are the Forth bridge, the Telford bridge, the Egyptian bridge and the Millennium bridge.
These proof £1 gold coins have a plain edge, (so to continue the custom of striking plain-edged specimens for coin collectors) apart from a hallmark which guarantees their status as Royal Mint patterns. The obverse of these gold £1 coins contain the inscription 'PATTERN' where they would normally have the words "ONE POUND". Boxed with certificate.
