This 1997 proof American half Eagle has a face value of $5 and features Franklin Roosevelt. The half-Eagle is .900 purity, containing 0.2419 troy-ounces of gold or 7.53 grams.

This 1997 American half Eagle has a face value of $5 and features Franklin Roosevelt on the obverse. His portrait was designed by T. James Ferrell, and was based on one of Roosevelt's favourite photographs while onboard the USS Houston in 1938. The reverse Eagle was designed by James M. Peed, and the coin was modelled by Thomas Rogers Sr.

This proof coin has been graded by the PCGS at MS69 rating.
