The obverse of the 1997 US Eagle 1oz Gold Coin depicts ‘Liberty’ holding an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The year of issue is indicated on the right side of the coin.
The inscription on the coin reads 'LIBERTY'.
The reverse of the 1997 1oz Gold US Eagle depicts the Type 1 design of a family of eagles by Miley Frost. It includes the face value of 50 Dollars and the inscriptions ‘UNITED.STATES.OF.AMERICA’, ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’, ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’, and ‘1 OZ. FINE GOLD’.
