1855 20 French Francs gold coin. This version has the Plain head portrait of Napoleon III and the reverse has the value and year surrounded by a wreath. The text reads NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR and EMPIRE FRANCAIS. The "A" mint mark indicates that the coin was minted in Paris. This version of the coin has the greyhound head privy mark, meaning that Jacques-Jean Barre was Chief Engraver when this coin was minted. Jacques-Jean Barre served as Chief Engraver between 1843 and 1855. He was succeed in this role by his son, Albert Désiré Barre.
