The Britannia coin takes its name from the iconic female symbol of Britain, a figure that has appeared on British coinage for over 2,000 years dating back to Roman occupation. The modern gold Britannia series was first introduced by the Royal Mint in 1987, establishing itself as the United Kingdom's premier gold bullion coin. The gold Britannia has earned a strong reputation worldwide, making it one of the most sought-after coins for both collectors and investors.

Part of the coin's appeal also comes from its security features which help prevent counterfeiting. These measures include the use of a latent image, surface animation, tincture lines and micro-text. All of these elements are hard to reproduce accurately.

Obverse: The obverse of the King Charles III 2027 Britannia 1/10oz Gold Coin features the King's official portrait, designed by Martin Jennings. This effigy of King Charles III shows his profile facing left, without a crown. The sculptor's initials, 'M.J.', are visible at the bottom of the head, with the inscription on the coin reading 'CHARLES III.D.G.REX.F.D'.

Reverse: The reverse of the 2027 1/10oz Gold Britannia features the classic figure of Lady Britannia, designed by Philip Nathan, with the text 'NATHAN' at the bottom of the coin. The reverse also features the 40th anniversary design additions to the background and privy mark.

The Britannia is the official gold bullion coin of the UK, and the 2027 gold Britannia tenth ounce coin is a great choice for investors.
