2017 1oz Dragon of Wales Gold Coin Queen's Beasts PCGS MS69

A 2017 Dragon of Wales 1oz gold coin graded to MS69 (FDC). A fully struck coin with nearly imperceptible imperfections.

This beautiful coin is the third of the "Queen's Beasts" series. The third coin features the Red Dragon of Wales which represents power and sovereignty. The coin is fine gold and weighs one troy ounce (31.1 grams).

The Royal Mint issued an initial 5,000 coins, though the Queen's Beast series is officially of unlimited mintage until the end of the year of issue.

The Queen's Beasts are ten statues which stood guard for the Queen's Coronation, sculpted by James Woodford RA in 1953. The Queen's Beasts are still standing, but are currently housed at the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec, Canada. Stone replicas of the statues can be found at Kew Gardens.
