The 2024 125th Anniversary 1oz gold coin from the Perth Mint celebrates the historic anniversary of one of the world's leading mints.
Established in 1899, as a branch of the British Royal Mint to refine gold mined in Western Australia, Perth Mint was responsible for minting Sovereigns for the British Empire and struck 106 million Sovereigns over the next 30 years. With Australia's independence, the mint shifted focus to becoming the nation's primary producer of gold and silver coins. Over time, it has minted numerous iconic coins featuring Australian wildlife, including the Nugget (now known as the Kangaroo), Koala, and Kookaburra series. Today, the Perth Mint is a significant player in the global precious metals industry, symbolizing Australia's mining heritage.
This 2024 Perth Mint Anniversary 1oz gold coin features the three most iconic bullion series produced by The Perth Mint among the Australian national flower, the golden wattle. Like all bullion coins they produce in 2024, it features a 'P125' mintmark within the design, along with the coin's weight, purity, and year. The obverse of the coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
