The 2023 Spanish Carthusian Horse 1oz gold coin from the Royal Mint of Spain.

This is the third gold bullion coin issued by the Spanish Royal Mint in what is becoming a very popular series featuring the iconic animals of Spain. The reverse features the famous Andalusian Horse, along with the year, face value, Madrid mintmark, and the legend CABALLO CARTUJANO. The obverse features two globes, representing the western and eastern hemispheres of the world, both of which are under a crown and flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules. It also shows the weight and purity of the coin, along with the legend Felipe VI Rey de España.

The Carthusian monks were renowned for their meticulous breeding program with Andalusian horses. The Andalusian breed is one of the most ancient and celebrated horse breeds in the world, known for its beauty, versatility, and noble characteristics, and especially for the "Paso Español" or Spanish walk, which is a slow, elevated movement with high knee action.

This coin is 24 carat and contains one troy ounce (31.1g) of gold. The face value on this coin is 1.5 Euros.
