The Royal Mint struck this two pound proof gold coin in 2008 to celebrate the centenary of the 4th Olympiad, held in London 1908. Quite cleverly the Mint created 1,908 of these coins to sell to the public.
The coin reverse was designed by the Royal Mint's own engraving team and features a running track with the dates 1908, 2008, the phrase 'Two Pounds' and the inscription LONDON OLYMPIC CENTENARY.
The Two Pound Gold Coin - sometimes referred to as the Double Sovereign - is a 22 carat purity coin and contains 14.63 grams of gold (twice the weight of a Sovereign).
This product is supplied as 'coin only' in a plastic capsule. There is no box or certificate.
