This 1973 gold proof £5 coin (aka quintuple Sovereign, or Crown) was issued as an Isle of Man proof coin by the Pobjoy Mint. It is the same weight as five Sovereigns and contains 36.6g of fine gold.

The reverse of the coin features a Norse warrior, based on St George, and referring to the Norse rule of the Isle of Man and other Celtic regions historically. The Isle of Man crest appears at the top.

On the obverse side is the decimal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait was designed by sculptor and coin specialist Arnold Machin, who also designed the decimal portrait of the Queen for the Royal Mint. The two portraits are subtly different in their proportions but both feature the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara - a wedding gift from her grandmother.

The Royal Mint issued no Sovereign coins in 1973, which led to a surge in demand for the Pobjoy Mint and their similar Isle of Man coins. The Pobjoy Mint is based in Surrey and was established in 1965. It has produced coins for the Isle of Man ever since.

Following the changes to international shipping after Brexit, orders to the United States under $500 will be sent with the Royal Mail International Service, while anything between $500-$2,000 will be sent with FedEx. Orders greater than $2,000(up to $40,000) will be sent by UPS.

Delivery is free and fully insured, but there is a 25kg weight limit per parcel. Orders over 1.6kg will be sent via UPS,with a 3-4 day delivery estimate (subject to change due toCovid-19). Royal Mail orders can be upgraded to FedEx for quicker shipping.
